Located on its own private island, Six Senses Laamu is a world-class resort offering divine barefoot luxury and a focus on sustainability
As the only resort in the glittering Laamu Atoll and encompassing the whole of Olhuveli Island, Six Senses Laamu takes you to a secluded corner of the Maldives.
Six Senses is all about relaxed luxury in an island paradise
Getting here requires a little more effort - a one-hour flight south from Male and a 15-minute speedboat transfer - but it’s well worth the extra travel time. Those who venture to this isolated haven will be rewarded with lavish over-water villas, dazzling coral reefs, vibrant marine life, sumptuous spas, organic produce, personalised service and the most famous surfing spot in the Maldives. Opened in 2011, Six Senses Laamu joined the ranks of the award-winning Six Senses brand, taking on the core values of community and sustainability. The property believes in creating the ultimate luxury experience without harming the natural world. They aim to protect and complement the environment and local cultures, guaranteeing a luxury stay that gives back. The property is also renowned for its world-class service and luxurious touches. You’ll stay in beautiful villas with private pools, and each villa is assigned a 'guest experience maker' and personalised bicycles to explore the island. You’ll enjoy watersports and surfing in Ying Yang, the Maldives' best surf break, and astonishing snorkelling and diving experiences, with the chance to spot parrotfish, green turtles, manta rays, and dolphins. Spend your days island-hopping, catamaran sailing, wakeboarding, or simply relaxing on the sand with a cocktail. You can even enjoy a picnic lunch on a nearby deserted island. There’s also a gorgeous spa where you can enjoy couple’s treatments, award-winning signature treatments, holistic therapies, and Ayurvedic treatments. From honeymooners to families, Six Senses Laamu welcomes everyone to their magical island paradise.
The Resort
There are 97 villas at Six Senses Laamu, ranging from luxurious beachfront villas nestled on white sandy shores to spellbinding villas perched over the cyan-blue water. You can take a dip in your private pool, jump off your private jetty, or swing in a hammock over the crystal-clear water. Families are welcomed in the Family Villa with a private pool, while couples and honeymooners will adore soaking up the breathtaking sunsets from the glass overwater bathtubs or sun lounges on their private deck. Each villa is made from natural materials, like wood, thatch and linen, and you’ll bathe outdoors with cleverly designed showers that maintain your privacy while allowing you to immerse within nature. Throughout the resort, you’ll find luxurious facilities, including a Jungle Cinema where you can watch a film under the stars with fresh popcorn and champagne, a waterfront state-of-the-art gym, and an upstairs deck with private and scheduled yoga classes.

How this resort makes your trip more responsible
Six Senses Laamu has a dedicated focus on environmental and social conservation, operating a range of fantastic initiatives. Their Marine Team conducts research to implement conservation programmes in the area, and they also promote awareness of the marine environment through excursions and by educating guests on safe and ethical interactions with the wildlife, reefs and marine world. On land, the property is committed to reducing its environmental impact and working towards self-sufficiency and zero-waste through programmes such as its organic on-site garden, innovative Earth Lab, desalinated water production, and elimination of plastic water bottles.
In the community, Six Senses strives for a caring and cooperative partnership with the local island and atoll councils. They support communities by purchasing local products, including cadjan coconut leaf roofing, coconut oil and fresh fish, and donating 0.5% of their total revenues and any guest donations to sustainable development projects in the community. They also deliver a Marine and Environmental Education Programme to local schools and run the ‘Eku Eky’ programme, where Six Senses Laamu and local atoll communities meet each quarter to discuss sustainable development and how the resort can assist the islands.
