This unique walking safari is a thrilling adventure where guests can both marvel at and support the beautiful local rhino. Stay at the banda camp, where one of three stone cottages will be your home for your adventure.

You'll stay on the edge of a dry river bed lined with doum palms, just a half an hour drive from the first ever community owned and managed rhino sanctuary in East Africa, Sera Rhino Sanctuary.

Reachable from either Kalama airstrip, a two hours drive away, or Kauro airstrip, which is a five minute drive from the camp, Saruni Rhino is a small private property where guests can watch daily herds of elephants, impala, kudu, monkeys and many other animals stop at the nearby waterhole.

Enjoy the facilities of a mess area, gourmet kitchen, and `swimming pool, and most importantly, your personable and well informed guides who belong to the Samburu community.

Track black rhino on foot with a ranger and Saruni guides, using traditional Samburu methods to track the now 19 rhino throughout the 54,000 hectares Sera Rhino Sanctuary. The number of rhino is continually growing, since 10 black rhino were originally translocated in 2015.

After an up close and personal encounter with the rhino, you can go on a game drive to spot many other animals including the 'Samburu Five' - Somali ostrich, grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe and beisa oryx.

Visit the Singing Wells, a rare opportunity to see the local community singing to their cattle as they haul water from 50 springs.

We highly recommend including a visit to the recently opened Reteti Elephant Sanctuary. This sanctuary provides protection for orphaned and abandoned elephant calves with an aim to release them back into the wild herds adjoining the Sanctuary. It is yet another conservation success story.

Sera is also a fantastic place for bird enthusiasts, while helicopter and plane rides can be arranged for thrill seekers.
