Travel to Tahiti and encounter the centre stage of French Polynesia, a tropical paradise which encompasses all that people love about the nation.
Being the economic, cultural and political centre of French Polynesia, Tahiti is where all of the nation’s best offerings accumulate. An astonishing blend of natural beauty, cosmopolitan energy and ancestral culture is embodied by Tahiti’s tapestry of history, art and cuisine. Stretching from the island’s vast ancient history, Tahiti’s cultural heritage has moved through indigenous growth and colonial struggle.
Visit Tahiti and its fascinating cultural landmarks, taking part in an interactive Tahitian dance lesson or tasting delicious Polynesian food in Tahiti’s fantastic array of restaurants. Venture into Tahiti’s ancient past on a 4x4 tour of the Papenoo Valley, the home of ancient Polynesians, in the volcanic interior of the island. Learn of the intricacy of Tahitian culture, speaking to locals and listening to ancient stories. The topography of this French Polynesia island offers a range of outdoor excursions around the island, perfect for active holidays in Tahiti. Its dramatic mountain landscapes have formed from volcanic activity, which has also divided Tahiti into two parts: Tahiti Nui and Tahiti Iti. Dense vegetation covers Tahiti’s rolling hillsides, starkly contrasting the rippling azure which surrounds the island and the picturesque beaches which fringe it.

As with the rest of the Tahitian islands, travelling to Tahiti is best during its dry season, between May and October. During this time, French Polynesia holidays bring warm temperatures with occasional high winds and cloudy skies. Trips to Tahiti during the shoulder seasons, in either April/May or November, assure blue skies and sunshine, with fewer crowds. If you decide to seek Tahiti’s hottest season, between December and March, you should expect rainfall and temperatures which are not fitting for hiking.
