Why We Love It

Speaking of which, a stay at this Costa Rica hotel gives you complimentary access to the Aguit Wildlife Reserve next door. There are up to three hours' worth of hiking trails here where you can spot sloths, snakes, scorpions, and plenty of other natural inhabitants. It’s also home to some gargantuan trees and a much quieter spot for a stroll than some other reserves.

Strolls aside, if you want to dial things up a notch, this is the place to do it. Senda Monteverde Hotel is ideally located for those who want to experience the forest’s incredible biodiversity from above and below.

A stone’s throw away from all the local activities, enjoy touring the forest trails on horseback, traversing the longest suspension bridges in Costa Rica, or taking a leisurely ride on the Sky Tram. The rolling highlands have countless banana and coffee plantations and stunning vistas.

Whether you’re perched on the hilltops gazing towards the Gulf of Nicoya or cloaked in the mystique of the cloud forests, every view from Senda Monteverde Hotel is spectacular.

And when your head hits the pillow, you’ll sleep soundly in any of the hotel's contemporary yet characterful cabins. Then, gently rouse to the sound of Monteverde’s motmot bird. There’s just no going back to any other alarm clock after this.

The Hotel

Senda Monteverde Hotel has 24 luxurious rooms and suites to choose from. The various suites and rooms are scattered across this panoramic Costa Rica hotel, providing plenty of choice for all types of travellers.

The stylish Superior Rooms offer open-concept and include a small open-air terrace. The Junior Suites are a great choice for families, whilst the Premium Suites include a private yet spacious open-air terrace; this has both sunset and ocean views on clear days. Finally, larger groups can opt for the Senda Suite, a private, stand-alone bungalow. The accommodation may vary in size, but every room provides elegant style and superior comfort.

Facilities

Enjoy a complimentary mini-bar and refreshments when you arrive. The shower is solar-powered and as powerful as a tropical rainstorm; you’ll find crisp cotton robes for after. If you feel like dialling into life back home, high-speed Wi-Fi is all over the property. But we reckon it's much more fun to watch the natural world do its thing - all from the tranquillity of your secluded terrace.

Dining

There’s always been a bit of farm-to-table movement going on in Monteverde. And Senda’s relatively close proximity to the area’s renowned Farmer’s Market means guests will always be treated to honest, artisanal produce. But don't expect simple, rustic fare here; these talented chefs maximise Monteverde’s already flavourful and hyper-local ingredients to create contemporary twists on the classics.

How this resort makes your trip more responsible

The stylish Senda Monteverde Hotel is situated in one of the world’s rarest natural ecosystems - and the team don't take this for granted. That's why they’ve planted over 5,500 native plants, maximising biodiversity whilst reducing their carbon footprint. Choosing Senda Monteverde Hotel also means you can do your bit as a conscious traveller. You'll get free complimentary access to the Aguti Wildlife Reserve next door by staying here. As members of the Cayuga Collection of Sustainable Luxury Hotels & Lodges, the organisation is a world leader in sustainable hospitality. At Wayfairer, we’re proud to support Sendra Monteverde Hotel as they continue to make a difference.
