Nestled into the heart of Torres del Paine National Park, around 315 kilometres (196 miles) from Punta Arenas airport, you’ll find the sleepy yet sophisticated EcoCamp Patagonia.

Comprised of a network of interconnected geodesic domes, this is a state-of-the-art camping site quite unlike any other. Set against a staggering backdrop of the snow-capped Andes,  this site’s 25 luxury accommodations blend harmoniously into this natural world. That’s because they’re inspired by the ancient dwellings of Patagonia’s ancient visitors: the Kawésqar people. It’s believed that their nomadic way of life may have stretched as far back as 6,000 years. Not that guests will experience a similarly wild or rugged experience at this innovative site.

At EcoCamp Patagonia, you can immerse yourself in the wilderness while relaxing in luxury.

Every dome is designed with superior comfort in mind. Inside, you can snuggle down into a warm bed made extra cosy due to the soft fleece blankets and other cushy furnishings. Opt for a Superior or Suite Dome, and you’ll even benefit from a wood-burning stove - perfect for keeping you toasty in the cooler Patagonian evenings. And when you gently wake to the rustling wind or a symphony of birdsong - guests are often treated to the sounds of the Magellanic woodpecker, Austral parakeet or an Andean condor soaring from above - you won't believe the view from your window. The scenic sight of the park’s iconic granite peaks just never gets old. 

But you don’t have to appreciate the views from afar.

Camp Patagonia provides a range of unforgettable guided excursions and activities. Whether it’s embarking on the iconic W Trek, an exhilarating hike around the park which reveals astonishing sights like the Grey Glacier and French Valley, or tracking Torres del Paine’s undisputed king, the elusive puma, the knowledgeable team here will ensure you experience some moments here that you’ll treasure forever.

Whether you spotted one of Patagonia’s majestic big cats; there are between 50 and 200 in this territory of 227,000 hectares here (the highest density of Pumas in the world) or finished the exhilarating 9-day Paine Circuit, share your experiences and encounters in one of the camp’s Community Domes. The conversation here is almost as good as the cocktails. Just don’t stay up too late chatting or staring up at the stars, though. There’s a whole new adventure on the horizon tomorrow.

The Hotel

The Standard Domes are scattered across the EcoCamp’s rolling hilltops. And a special feature of these signature suites is their skylights. Offering a night like any other, this feature allows you to gaze up at the stars as you comfortably fall asleep. The Superior Dome is even more spacious and has comfortable queen-size or twin beds, a propane heater and a private bathroom - complete with a composting toilet. But for the very best views on the camp, not to mention even more little luxuries like its low-emission wood stove, opt for the Suite Dome or Suite Dome Loft. When you're kicking back in scenic but state-of-the-art comfort, you won’t regret it.

Facilities

If the cosy and contemporary hotel domes weren’t enough, there’s plenty more for guests to enjoy here. Picturesquely perched on the edge of the camp, overlooking the Patagonia Pampas, is EcoCamp’s Yoga Dome. Guests can slowly stretch and soak it all in with an inspiring view of the Pain Towers. Secluded and situated behind the mountains, there’s also the Man Keokén massage room. Here, you can indulge your senses with three massages (relaxation, tissue and muscle, and localised). Feeling relaxed and ready to socialise? Then head over to the Community Dome for a spot of dinner, some local craft beers or a delectable cocktail - the pisco sour is a must. 

Dining

EcoCamp Patagonia’s Executive Chef Macarena Vega draws inspiration from her living in the Chilean countryside. But don’t expect traditional fare here; the camp's innovative ethos runs through the ever-evolving menu. One thing is consistent, though: it's fresh, locally sourced and always delicious. Breakfast is hearty, lunch allows you to pick, choose and pack your next-level hamper, and dinner is a gourmet three-course. All dietary requirements are well catered for, too.

Spearheading smart design and responsible practices to minimise its environmental impact, EcoCamp has been recognised as a trailblazer in ecotourism - both in Patagonia and worldwide. Whether it’s the micro-hydro turbines that draw power from the nearby river or the photovoltaic panels that convert energy from the sun, 95% of EcoCamp is run from renewable sources. Additionally, the team offset all CO2 emissions from its hotel, offices, staff flights and transportation at the end of each season.
