How this resort makes your trip more responsible
At Wayfairer, we always aim to work with accommodations that share our values. North Island Okavango is committed to making a positive impact on the people and wildlife of the area. The accommodation is part of the Natural Selection group, which has set up a range of conservation initiatives, including “Wild Vision”, which aims to bring efficient on-site eye testing and eyeglass distribution to remote schools to reduce delayed development that early onset vision impairment can cause. Their “Communal Herding for Livestock and Wildlife Protection” programme has helped to safeguard cattle, create employment, reduce the retaliatory killing of lions and restore overgrazed landscapes.
North Island Okovango is also 100% solar-powered and uses environmentally friendly air-conditioning to help reduce any negative impact on the environment.
