Streets overflowing with regal history, charismatic seaside towns and winding countryside pathways.

London Bridge looks gorgeous ahead of a gentle sunset. London is a hotspot for theatre lovers, history nerds and food snobs alike, posing extraordinary landmarks like London Bridge.

England is the biggest country in the United Kingdom, welcoming travelers from all over the world on an journey equally defined by historic grandeur and rural beauty.

Begin your journey in London, the dynamic capital of England. This is a city with an unrelenting buzz, where each quarter brings its own defining qualities, joined by the iconic London underground railway. Its political landmarks, like the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, and the Houses of Parliament, coexist with cutting-edge art galleries, vibrant markets, and a thriving theatre scene in the West End.

Venture north to York, a city steeped in medieval history, where a stroll along its ancient city walls feels like a portal through time. You can even see the guiding lines for horse-drawn carriages along the narrow, cobbled streets of the Shambles. You can also explore the history of Viking invasions at the Jorvik Viking Centre.

Heading further north, the dramatic landscapes of the Lake District beckon. This English national park, renowned for its stunning lakes and rolling hills, inspired the works of William Wordsworth. Hiking, boating, and quaint villages like Grasmere make the Lake District the perfect location for a family walking holiday.

For a taste of England’s coastal beauty, visit the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its dramatic cliffs and fossil-rich beaches. The charming seaside towns of Dorset and Devon offer a glimpse into traditional coastal life, complete with fresh seafood and breathtaking views.

Whilst literature lovers may head to the charming, riverside town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the beloved birthplace of William Shakespeare, countryside dwellers may prefer the open countryside of the Cotswolds. Wherever you choose to visit in England, this marvelous country is sure to have something for you.

When to go to England

Whilst you should expect a consistent chance of rain and grey skies in England, there is rarely any extreme cases of weather. Between its urban hotspots and sweeping countryside, England follows a pretty rhythmic four seasons, with its crisp winter falling between December and February and its warm summer between June and August.

Whilst autumn and winter can bring anything from freezing temperatures to heavy downpours, the cold seasons can be the best time to visit England. London's tree-lined avenues and the Lake District are swept with orange hues in October and November, whilst pretty cottages in the Cotswolds make an ideal cozy stay at Christmas time.
