Steep streets, rows of colorful buildings, a busy port and snow-capped mountains define the world’s southernmost city.
Nestled at the southernmost tip of South America in the Province of Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia stands as a captivating gateway to Patagonia’s wild and untamed landscapes. Known as the "End of the World, beginning of everything," this enchanting city in Argentina boasts a unique blend of rugged natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
Surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains, pristine glacial fjords, and Beagle Channel’s icy waters, Ushuaia is a hub for adventure seekers, nature enthusiasts, and intrepid explorers alike. Whether trekking through the awe-inspiring Tierra del Fuego National Park, embarking on a thrilling expedition to Antarctica, or simply soaking in the charm of its colorful streets adorned with quaint shops, houses with traditional facades, and welcoming cafes, Ushuaia promises an unforgettable journey to the edge of the Earth. During your trip to Ushuaia, learn more about the environment with a visit to the Bahía Encerrada Urban Nature Reserve, where you’ll find a historic bird nesting place. Along the waterfront, there are many curiosities, including the Falkland Islands Memorial, which pays tribute to fallen soldiers and Saint Christopher, a ship stranded on the shore. Before leaving, stop at the post office – it’s your last chance to send mail before travelling to Antarctica.

Like the rest of Argentina, the weather in Ushuaia can be unpredictable. You might see all four seasons in one day, especially the wind and the cold, and thanks to the sea, the weather can change abruptly. However, this also means you can enjoy Ushuaia’s landscapes all year round.
Summer
The summer months run between December and March, with moderate temperatures around 13 degrees Celsius. There are also extended hours of daylight. With this pleasant weather, many people come to the city to take advantage of its many outdoor activities.
Spring
October to December brings spring to Ushuaia, with average temperatures between 2 and 10 degrees Celsius. Days have plenty of daylight, and the landscape is covered with blooms. Although the nearby hills will still be blanketed with snowfall, there are plenty of hiking and trekking trails to enjoy.
Autumn
Between April and May, temperatures start to cool, and sunlight disappears earlier in the day. However, the sky will be awash with orange, gold, and amber hues, making any hike you take feel magical. This low season also sees fewer crowds, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to discover the landscape as it was intended – between yourself and nature!
Winter
The winter months are between May and August and tend to be very cold and dark, with temperatures ranging between -1 to 5 degrees Celsius. During these months, some hotels and tourism services will be shut. However, it’s prime skiing time, which means it’ll be busy with tourists, and any open hotels will be booked early.
