Hyatt Regency Kyoto - A sleek & sophisticated luxury property

While staying here, we recommend indulging at the Riraku Spa
The Hyatt Regency Kyoto is a luxury hotel tucked away in the east of Kyoto, in the quiet and green district of Higashiyama Shichijo. This area was once home to the ancient capital’s imperial court, but today it’s a great base for sightseeing. Nearby attractions include Tofukuji Temple, the Kyoto National Museum, and the Geisha of the Gion District. Décor is contemporary and chic, courtesy of Japanese design powerhouse Super Potato. However, the interiors also feature traditional details, such as antique kimono wall hangings and headboards, as well as the gentle glow from paper lamps. Modern amenities at the Hyatt Regency are of the highest quality, as you would expect from a luxury hotel brand, while unique touches such as kaiseki banquets served at the hotel’s Tozan restaurant create a more local experience. The Hyatt Regency Kyoto was also voted one of Time’s Top 5 Places to Stay in Kyoto, due to luxury facilities such as the three high-class restaurants (serving French, Japanese and Italian food, including takeaway baked goods) and opulent treatments at the in-house spa. This hotel accommodates both business and leisure travellers, though Wayfairer highly recommends this sleek and sophisticated property to couples and honeymooners looking for a luxury experience and the opportunity to indulge at the Riraku Spa.
The Resort
The property is comprised of 189 beautifully designed rooms, all of which include modern amenities such as 32-42 inch flat-screen televisions with satellite channels, fast Wi-Fi service and an iPad, which you can use to access guest services. The Regency Suite is an exceptionally impressive part of the hotel, featuring a wraparound balcony and stunning views of Kyoto. The fitness centre and spa is a perfect luxury touch, with treatments including massage, reiki, water therapy and a cypress wood shavings bath experience - unique to this spa and hotel. You’ll have ample opportunity to try out the hotel’s restaurants, as breakfast is included in your stay. You can choose between Tozan (a traditional Japanese set breakfast) or The Grill (a buffet with eggs cooked to order and a coffee bar).
Facilities
The Fitness Centre features the latest gym equipment, while the Riraku Spa includes whirlpool baths and traditional eastern treatments such as shiatsu, acupuncture ad moxibustion.
Dining
The hotel’s three high-quality restaurants include The Grill (French), Tozan (Japanese restaurant and bar), and Trattoria Sette (Italian), the latter of which also has an in-house bakery that produces delicious takeaway pastries.
How this resort makes your trip more responsible
The Hyatt Regency Kyoto is proud of its corporate responsibility, which is focused on people, communities, Human Rights, the planet and responsible sourcing. You can learn about the brand’s recent progress and milestones on their Reporting scorecards. The Hyatt family celebrates diversity and embraces colleagues from all walks of life, offering great benefits and support for families. The brand is also community-aware and is particularly proud of initiatives funded by the Hyatt Hotels Foundation and collective fundraising and volunteer efforts during April, their Global Month of Community Service. The hotel chain is also conscious of sustainability, tackling issues such as waste reduction, conversation efforts, and responsible sourcing of food and building materials.
