This beautiful camp, situated in a remote wilderness area of the northern Okavango Delta, offers excellent year-round game viewing and exceptional birding
Located within the exclusive Kwara Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta, this small and secluded camp has a relaxed, friendly and authentic atmosphere. It shares the reserve with its sister camp Splash.
Located in the exclusive Kwara Reserve, enjoy relaxing in this small, authentic camp
The camp is set on an island overlooking floodplains and a seasonal lagoon and has permanent water year-round. Therefore, it offers both land and water activities, allowing guests to enjoy the ultimate Okavango experience!
Kwara Reserve has consistent sightings of predators, including leopards, lions, cheetahs, and on rare occasions, white rhinos! Herds of elephants are also seen in the reserve, as well as zebras, giraffes, impalas, sitatungas, red lechwes and hippos. The birdlife is fantastic too!
Guests at Kwara Camp can spot wildlife and birdlife on game drives, which have both a guide and tracker on board and as the camp is situated within a private reserve, it’s possible to drive off-road in search of sightings. Plus, there’s also the option of night drives where you can look for nocturnal creatures with spotlights.
The camp also offers tranquil mokoro excursions along the lagoon and channels where you can soak up the atmosphere of the Okavango Delta and see things from a different perspective! Boat trips along the waterways on a double-deck boat and seasonal fishing trips are also offered!
The Camp
The newly re-built Kwara Camp (which opened in September 2019) will be larger and more luxurious than the original camp. It will feature nine spacious canvas tents with comfortable twin or double beds surrounded by mosquito nets. Each tent will be decorated in the authentic African style of Kwando Safaris. All tents will have an en-suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers and a gorgeous bath offering phenomenal views of the floodplains! The tents will also feature a large wooden deck where guests can sit and gaze out over the surrounding plains and lagoon with its resident hippos.
The main area will be located in the center of the camp and will feature a dining area, a lounge and a gift shop. There will also be two small pool areas at each end of the camp offering guests more private lounge areas. At each poolside, there will be a bar and sun loungers where guests can relax in-between safari activities.
Please note that the minimum age at Kwara Camp is 18 years, and there are no family rooms. If you’re a family and you’re looking to include the Kwara Reserve in your Botswana itinerary, we recommend Splash Camp.
Facilities
Facilities include a pool with sun loungers, a bar, a lounge and dining area, and a gift shop. Plus, 4WD safari vehicles, a double-deck boat and several mekoros.

Kwara Camp is booked on an all-inclusive basis - breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are all included, as well as mineral water, soft drinks, house wines, beers and non-luxury spirits.
How this resort makes your trip more responsible
Kwara Camp is owned by Kwando Safaris, a well-established citizen-owned safari company operating in the Okavango Delta. Kwando Safaris are committed to offering employment opportunities within their local communities, and all the friendly faces you’ll see at Kwara Camp and other Kwando properties are from Botswana.
Wayfairer wholeheartedly supports this ethos. Across all the destinations where we offer vacations, we aim to use locally owned accommodation that employs local staff as we believe that tourism should operate in partnership with local people and should offer employment and economic benefits for the community.
