Ila Safari Lodge is the perfect lodge to explore deep into Kafue National Park

Ila’s location on the banks of the Kafue River in Kafue National Park is wonderfully convenient. Situated just a one hour flight from Lusaka’s airport or a three hour drive from Zambia’s capital city, Ila Safari Lodge is the perfect base to roam deeper into the Kafue National Park.

Founded in 2016, the lodge was built with a focus on sustainability. There are ten luxury tents designed to melt into their surroundings, made with locally sourced wood and khaki canvas walls. Each tent is perched on stilts with their own private deck overlooking the river.

Blending traditional construction with modern African styling, the tents boast some incredible amenities including an outdoor shower and bath with views over the river.

There are two spacious family suites with separate sleeping areas and ensuite bathrooms, perfect for groups or families.

The main camp area is an open-sided thatched chalet with an open-air restaurant, comfortable seating, a cosy fire-pit and a stunning infinity pool overlooking the river.

The Lodge

The lodge has ten incredible luxury tents including Luxury Suites, King Tents and two large Luxury Family Tents. The King Tents have outdoor showers overlooking the river, while the Luxury Suites feature a lavish outdoor bath with views over the river. The Luxury Family Tents are decked out with opulent amenities including separate sleeping areas (there’s room for four), a beautiful indoor shower and bath and ramp access. All tents features a private deck overlooking the Kafue River.

The highlight of the lodge is the breathtaking infinity pool overlooking the Kafue River. Relax on the sunbeds as you soak up an awe-inspiring sunset over the African wilderness. There’s a wonderful communal dining area, a bar and a fire-pit by the river, for a special camping experience. There’s also a library, complimentary laundry service and a host of fantastic activities. Venture out for game drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, fishing trips, bird watching, night game drives and cultural visits. The lodge runs a range of fantastic conversation programs including the Ila Community Farm and the Lunch With the Ladies Club.

Ila also welcomes children of all ages and provide plenty of child-friendly activities.

Dining

The open-air restaurant is set in a thatched boma on the idyllic banks of the Kafue River. The menu ranges from buffet breakfasts and tasty lunches to gourmet dinners.

Ila offers authentic walking safaris, has a solar powered boat and even has Zambia’s very first electronic landrover (the eLandy), which they use for short drives in the Game Management Area. They also run a range of fantastic environmental and social conservation projects including the Ila Community Farm and the Lunch With the Ladies Club where you can enjoy a traditional meal with the Ladies Club at the local Chunga Community and learn more about the local culture and traditions.
