Chile is home to such a range of landscapes enabling travellers to explore all the different parts of this spectacular county. This is the ultimate Chile itinerary, especially for those wanting an adventurous holiday and wanting to see as much as they can.

From arriving in the cultural city of Santiago to beginning your Andean road trip to the volcanic ski resort, Nevados de Chillan for amazing skiing terrain. This isn't the only Chile ski resort you will be exploring, you will then head onto Corralco before going onto explore many other areas.

During this Chile Itinerary, you will also see other areas of this amazing country, explore the Lake District and immerse yourselves in endless activities from hiking, horse riding and fishing as well as many cultural experiences. Onto the exploring the iconic Moon Valley, you will stop at the Atacama salt lake, the active Lascar Volcano and take in the spectacular views of this moonscape.

Trip Itinerary

The beautiful city of Santiago

Days 1-2: Exploring Santiago

Day 1 - Bienvenidos a Chile

Guests will land in Santiago Chile off their international flight. You will be met by your private driver and English-speaking guide and transferred to your hotel, Le Reve Boutique Hotel,  in the city. Relax following your flight before your ultimate Chile Ski adventure begins.

Days 2 - Cycling tour of Santiago

Explore Santiago by bike! You will set off this morning on your tour, enjoy all the art and culture, giving insight to the life of a local, but also the multicultural aspects of the heart of the city.

Your day starts by pedalling your way through the graffiti-filled Barrio Bellavista, riding along the  cobbled streets and colourful murals. Next stop is La Chascona, the Santiago house of the famous Nobel prize winning Chilean poet and cultural icon, Pablo Neruda. Then, you will continue towards La Vega, the largest market in Santiago Chile , and Tirso Molina market. You will cycle back through Parque Forestal, a 14-kilometer long riverside park that runs through the capital city.

Day 3 - Drive through the Andes

Days 3 - Andean Road Trip

Today your Andean adventure commences. You will have your final breakfast in Santiago, and meet your driver who will take you on a road trip, following the ridge of the Andes south towards the volcanic ski resort - Nevados De Chillan. The drive time is 5.5 hours but you will have pit stops along the way and watch the dramatic landscapes change. On arrival enjoy a complimentary welcome drink, check-in to your hotel Hotel Termas Chillan, and relax for the evening.

Days 4-5: Nevados de Chilean

Days 4 -5 : Skiing at Nevados de Chillan

The resort has excellent snow conditions, thanks to its high elevation and reliable snowfall. The ski season typically runs from June to October, providing ample opportunity for winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy the slopes. For those seeking adventure beyond the marked trails, Termas de Chillan offers opportunities for off-piste skiing and snowboarding. Experienced skiers can explore the backcountry terrain with the guidance of local experts, discovering hidden powder and untouched slopes.

During your stay at Nevados de Chillan includes enjoy endless skiing,  full board meals at Arboleda Restaurant and relax in the spa and heated swimming pool after a busy day.

Day 6 - Drive to Corralco

After 3 nights of fresh powder heaven, today you will set off for your road trip further south. Enjoy your final breakfast in Chillan, before check-out and meeting your private driver who will transfer you to your next destination. On arrival, check-in to your hotel, Valle Corralco Hotel & Spa and perhaps treat yourself to a jacuzzi, a sauna or a hike.

Located within the stunning Malalcahuello National Reserve. Offering a unique experience for skiers, this resort boasts over 1,800 hectares of skiable terrain, with an annual snowfall of nine meters. With 29 runs and six ski lifts, it hosts Chile's most extensive ski season, set amidst the vast Araucanía Mountain Range.

Days 7 & 8 - Skiing in Corralco

Today, wake up in the beautiful resort Corralco and head off skiing.  Corralco offers a unique experience known for it's pristine snow conditions, breathtaking scenery, and a welcoming atmosphere. Corralco offers a variety of terrain suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. From gentle beginner slopes to challenging expert runs, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Additionally, the resort features off-piste areas for those seeking adventure. One of the highlights of skiing in Corralco is the scenic chairlift rides, which offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Whilst staying at Valle Corralco Hotel & Spa, guests can enjoy the heated pool, bar, and restaurant, which offers a blend of modern and local cuisine. Days 9 - 11: Lake District

Day 9 - Transfer to the Lake District

After a delicious breakfast this morning, you're off to the Lake District. You will meet your driver at your hotel lobby and they will take you to your remote lodge near Pucon. Your hotel, &Beyond Vira Vira is located within its own expansive estate, this hacienda-style boutique exudes a distinct sense of place, complemented by exquisite cuisine and an array of seasonal activities catering to both adventurers and culture enthusiasts. Surrounded by beautiful evergreen forests and the rushing Liacura River, with the majestic Villarrica Volcano as a backdrop, the setting is truly enchanting.

Pucón is a charming town in the Araucanía Region of Chile, renowned for its stunning natural beauty and adventurous outdoor activities. Located on the shores of Lake Villarrica and overlooked by the imposing Villarrica volcano, Pucón attracts visitors year-round with its picturesque landscapes and diverse recreational opportunities. One of the main attractions of Pucón is the Villarrica volcano, an active stratovolcano that towers over the town. Adventurous travellers can embark on guided hikes to the summit, where they can peer into the crater and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

Days 10 & 11 - The Lake District

Explore your pristine surroundings, your luxury lodge offers a wide range of options for you to explore the natural beauty of the region. These activities  include horseback riding, fly-fishing, hiking, kayaking, and scenic helicopter flights, among others. Days 12 - 14: Atacama Desert

Day 12 - From the Lakes to the Desert

Today you will check-out from your hotel in the Lakes, and be driven to Temuco Airport for your flight to Calama via Santiago. 

On arrival in Calama, you'll be met by your driver and escorted to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, a 1.5 hour drive from the airport. Terrantai Lodge offers a delightful retreat for those seeking a blend of history and comfort, resembling more of a cozy boutique bed & breakfast than a lavish resort. Originally a 19th-century house nestled close to San Pedro's historic church, it remains an integral part of the town's designated Historic Centre.

Day 13 - Exploring the Moon Valley

Today have a leisurely breakfast and after a busy few days, spend the morning relaxing.You will be picked up at your hotel in the afternoon to enjoy a spectacular evening exploring the Moon Valley. Along the way from San Pedro towards Calama, you will stop to take some great pictures of the Andean Mountain range, the huge Atacama salt lake, the active Lascar Volcano, and the impressive Licancabur Volcano.

You will continue towards the Moon Valley, a silent moonscape with strange formations that nature has carved of salt and clay. You will visit the “Tres Marías” rock formation and salt caverns before watching the sun fade away into the night. Before sunset, you can also opt for a short hike to one of the giant sand dunes in the valley. (EVENING) Private service with an English-speaking guide, entrance fees, and snack included.

Day 14 - Altiplanic Lagoons & Chaxa & Toconao

Today your sensational excursion starts as you head towards the Atacama Salt Flat, where you will be able to observe two or three different pink species of flamingos at the Chaxa Lagoon. Afterwards, you will head to the breathtaking Miscanti and Meñique Altiplanic Lagoons at an altitude of 4,200 m (13,500 ft).

These intensely blue-colored waters are located at the foot of neighboring volcanoes and boast an impressive landscape. Later, you will visit the charming town of Socaire, famous for its agricultural terraces. There, you will enjoy a nice lunch and then continue on to the settlement of Toconao, constructed from volcanic rock and well-known for spectacular views of the Atacama Salt Flat.

 

Day 15 - Departure from Chile

Today marks the final day of your tour. Check-out from your hotel,  Terrantai Lodge Hotel this morning and board your flight back home via Santiago de Chile. Here is Chile you will head to the airport your flight home after a wonderful Chilean adventure.
